The rare love

Posted: 12 years ago - Jun 07, 2014

I can appreciate more than ever unconditional love. I used to think it didn't exist; we all have conditions, right. But when I discovered B, who sees me as I am and loves me anyway, I can't help but marvel at the good fortune. For such a love is rare.

There was a time when I struggled to hide who I was, fearing I could not experience total acceptance. When I see others who have spouses in this community, spouses who like my fiance, understand (or perhaps not) but love you anyway, I nod my head in understanding how rare it is to encounter that kind of love.

It's a wonderful kind of peace I find in that kind of love. It opens my heart to return a similar kind of love. One without restrictions, one that acknowledges that no matter what that other person does, or who they are, you love them anyway. It runs underneath the petty nonsense we bring to the relationship...and that's a good thing. Maybe that's what keeps long relationships going? I dunno.

I do know this love is rare. When you get it, I pray you don't take it for granted.
